Ensemble Theatre Company of Santa Barbara
Presents Hit Broadway Comic Drama
Santa Barbara CA– Ensemble Theatre Company (ETC) has announced the second production of its 2013-14 maiden season at its brand new venue, David Lindsay-Abaire’s Good People. Nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play, this recent Broadway hit is a darkly funny and profoundly touching story about class and culture. Good People runs from February 6-23, 2014 under the direction of Jenny Sullivan. Opening night is Saturday, February 8.
One of the most popular plays around the country in the last two years, Good People takes place in two Boston neighborhoods: working-class Southie and upscale Chestnut Hill. Margie Walsh has just lost her job at the Dollar Store and is now one bingo game away from being evicted from her home. Perhaps her high school boyfriend, Mikey, who has managed to escape his blue collar upbringing to become a successful doctor, could be her ticket out. Filled with humor, pathos, and suspense, Good People asks the question: “Is where we grew up inexorably written on our future chances of success?”
