Ensemble Theatre Company Cast New Tallulah Bankhead in Upcoming Comedy Looped.
(Santa Barbara, May 23, 2014) Ensemble Theatre Company (ETC) and Jonathan Fox, Executive Artistic Director, are pleased to announce that movie, television, and stage actor Diane Louise Salinger will perform the role of Tallulah Bankhead in ETC's upcoming production of Looped. Marsha Mason, previously announced in the part, has withdrawn from the production for personal reasons. Looped, the final show of ETC’s 2013-14 Season, runs from July 10 through July 27, 2014.
Ms. Salinger has performed Shakespeare, Chekhov, and O'Neill at such prestigious theaters as the Mark Taper Forum, South Coast Rep., A.C.T., Denver Theatre Center, and Williamson Theatre. She began her film career as Simone in Pee-wee's Big Adventure and later reunited with Paul Reubens in Batman Returns in 1992. She played the recurring character Apollonia, the fortune teller, in HBO's cult hit "Carnivale" to great acclaim. Other movies include Woody Allens's Alice, Clint Eastwood's Bird, Sidney Lumet's The Morning After, as well as two movies by Henry Jaglom, Just 45 Minutes from Broadway and Queen of the Lot, to name a few. A partial list of starring television appearances include "CSI," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "How I Met Your Mother," "Law and Order," "ER," "NYPD Blue," "Star Trek: Deep Space 9" (recurring) and "The Young and the Restless."
Looped is a touching new comedy, by Matthew Lombardo, about the saucy and inimitable Tallulah Bankhead. Based on a real event, it takes place in the summer of 1965, when a boozed-up Ms. Bankhead needed eight hours to redub—or loop—one line of dialogue for what turned out to be her last film, the 1965 horror flick, "Die! Die! My Darling!." Looped will be directed by six-time Emmy Award winner Glenn Jordan.
Founded in 1979, Ensemble Theatre is Santa Barbara’s leading professional, resident theatre company.
